Restore your smile to its natural radiance with scaling, an essential step in preserving the health of your teeth and gums.

Descaling

Scaling, also known as dental scaling or prophylaxis, is a professional cleaning procedure performed by a dentist. Its purpose is to remove plaque and tartar build-up from tooth surfaces, particularly along the gum line. Tartar is a hardened accumulation of minerals from saliva and bacteria, and can cause dental problems such as cavities and gum disease.

Definition :

Scaling involves the use of special instruments such as curettes and ultrasound to gently remove plaque and tartar from teeth and gums. The procedure can be slightly uncomfortable, but is generally well tolerated. Once the tartar has been removed, the teeth are polished to remove surface stains and smooth surfaces, making it more difficult for plaque to adhere in the future.

Technical

Tooth scaling should be carried out on a regular basis, and is generally recommended once or twice a year.

Patients suffering from general medical conditions such as diabetes are at greater risk of periodontitis, and therefore require more frequent prevention than a patient with no disease.
